Scheduled SEPTEMBER 19, 2015

The 12th Annual Conquer the Coast is just around the corner!

I wanted to send along some updates as we are poised to have the best Conquer ever.

RIDER NUMBERS – As of yesterday afternoon we already had 432 riders signed up for this year’s event. Last year on the same date we were at 310 total riders, and in 2013 we were at 84. Here’s how this year’s rides break down so far:

65 mile- 322
25 mile- 84
10 mile- 26

RIDE SPONSORS – For the first time in several years Conquer the Coast has a title sponsor, as H-E-B stepped up for this year’s ride. We couldn’t be happier with the partnership and also to help H-E-B celebrate 110 years in Texas! We’re also excited to announce that Cheniere will be the sponsor for this year’s 10-Mile Family/Kid’s Ride. Back again this year are several other core CTC sponsors and partners including Andrews Distributing/Dos XX, AEP, Brewster Street Ice House, Corpus Christi CVB, Hurricane Alley, Caller-Times, KIII-TV, Corpus Christi Hooks, Stripes, Corpus Christi Park & Rec along with several other local companies and civic organizations.

CORPORATE CHALLENGE – New to Conquer the Coast this year is our corporate and group challenge. More information is attached on this great opportunity for local companies and organizations to get their people involved and participating in one of the rides. *The winning corporate or social group will win a $1,000 party at Brewster Street Icehouse!

JERSEYS – Honoring some of the jersey designs from the early years, we went with a “throwback” design featuring the Harbor Bridge along with a Shark graphic on the front and back. It’s been a big hit and we’ve sold more at this point than any previous year. *A draft/mock-up of the jersey is attached, some logos are just in for placeholders right now.

NEW FACES – Conquer the Coast has always benefitted the Corpus Christi Chamber Foundation, but this year the event is wholly under the Foundation umbrella – along with new Executive Director Paige Kimball. If you haven’t met Paige you need to, she’s awesome and has provided great support for the event.

OLD FACES – One person you probably won’t see this year is Matt Motl, event coordinator for Ryan Sanders Entertainment the last three years. Matt has taken a position with the Austin Sports Commission and we’re very happy for him as it’s a great opportunity. With Matt’s departure, you’ll be seeing – and hearing from me – in advance of and at this year’s event.

CTC STEERING COMMITTEE – Over the years we’ve had great support from a very knowledgeable and hardworking steering committee. The SC has been made up of event sponsors, partners, local ride groups and others with an interest in the event.

Thank you for your support of Conquer the Coast in the past and we hope to have you involved in this year’s 12th Annual event.

SAG drivers are needed for this year’s ride. If you or someone you know would be so kind to help, please drop us a line. It is not necessary to provide a personal vehicle. Contact Ken Ham if you are interested in providing support.
