MPO Meeting

Dear Resident of the Coastal Bend,

I’m writing to ask for your involvement in a planning effort that has the potential to fundamentally improve the quality of life in our community.

The Corpus Christi Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is creating a new plan for a cohesive bike and pedestrian network that links key destinations in the Coastal Bend and provides a meaningful and safe transportation alternative. Phase I, Bicycle Mobility, of this Strategic Plan for Active Mobility is underway and will be complete by the end of the year; Phase II, Pedestrian Mobility, will follow in 2016.

This plan is about enhancing mobility options for the broader community by identifying where bike infrastructure should be built and what form it should take (e.g. on-street bike lane, separate paved cycle track, off-road trail, etc.) to provide the level of safety and service that you, the user, wants. This plan will help our community realize a slew of economic, quality of life, public health, environmental, and social equity objectives.

Your input is essential!

The planning team will host a variety of neighborhood meetings and focus groups over the next few months, including a dedicated opportunity for members of local cycling clubs to hear more about the planning effort and share their priorities:
Please join us on Monday, June 1st at 7:00 pm at Kiko’s (5514 Everhart Rd.). Appetizers will be provided. Please also visit the Web portal for this planning effort,, which provides three
methods for providing input as well as answers to frequently asked questions.

This plan is a great step toward a more livable Coastal Bend, and we sincerely hope that you’ll be an active (pun intended) participant in the process. Thanks very much for your time and participation.

Warm Regards,

Jeff Pollack, ACIP, ENV SP Transportation Planning Director
